IT Support Engineer

A leading provider of specialised engineering software solutions is looking for a motivated IT Support professional to join their Guildford-based team.

The Role
You’ll be a key member of the IT team, delivering hands-on 1st and 2nd line support and helping keep the business running smoothly. You’ll handle day-to-day end-user issues, hardware/software setup, and routine maintenance while developing your skills in a supportive environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing timely, professional 1st and 2nd line support for incidents and service requests
- Troubleshooting common issues (AD logins, password resets, MFA, software installs, basic hardware faults)
- Setting up, configuring and deploying new hardware and software
- Performing regular IT operations and maintenance tasks
- Managing IT hardware assets and producing inventory reports
- Escalating complex issues and contributing to process improvements
- Maintaining accurate departmental documentation
Some travel is required — a valid UK driving licence is essential.
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Relevant IT qualification (e.g. CompTIA A+ or equivalent)
- Strong Windows 10/11 administration & support experience
- Hands-on experience with hardware lifecycle (laptop provisioning, deployment, maintenance)
- Experience installing/configuring desktops, laptops, printers and other IT equipment
- Basic networking knowledge (patching, connectivity, troubleshooting)
- Exposure to Active Directory / DNS / DHCP or similar
- Understanding of cybersecurity best practices
- Familiarity with ITIL or similar service frameworks
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, user-focused approach
Desirable:
- Microsoft 365 / ITIL Foundation certifications
- Experience with VMware vSphere, Microsoft Exchange, Cisco Meraki, Sophos Central, backup technologies or Linux
